Kim Jones, the celebrated British designer, has officially stepped down from his role as the artistic director of Dior Men’s after seven years with the brand. His departure was confirmed by Dior on January 31, 2025, marking the end of an era for the fashion house’s menswear division.

Jones joined Dior in 2018 and was instrumental in redefining the brand’s menswear, blending Dior’s rich heritage with contemporary fashion sensibilities. His tenure was marked by a series of notable collaborations with artists like KAWS, Daniel Arsham, and Shawn Stussy, which significantly broadened Dior’s appeal to a younger, streetwear-savvy demographic. His designs often played with the tension between classic elegance and modern subcultures, making Dior Men’s collections both timeless and of the moment.

One of his final collections, showcased in Paris for Fall 2025, was described as a potential farewell, characterized by a restrained palette and a focus on sharp tailoring, reflecting a return to the essence of Dior’s couture legacy. This collection notably featured models wearing blindfolds, interpreted by some as a metaphor for the uncertainty surrounding his future with the brand.

Jones was also recognized for his contributions to fashion when he was awarded the chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest civilian honor, adding to the speculation that his exit might be imminent. His last show received rave reviews, showcasing his ability to merge Dior’s couture tradition with innovative menswear designs.

The announcement came without any mention of a successor for the Dior Men’s position, leaving room for speculation about who might take over the creative direction. Jones himself expressed gratitude towards the Dior team, the Arnault family, and the artists he collaborated with, signaling a graceful exit from the brand.

After his departure from Fendi in October 2024 to focus solely on Dior, Jones’s move now leaves his future plans open to speculation. His impact on Dior Men’s, however, will be remembered for pushing the boundaries of luxury menswear, blending art, culture, and fashion in a way that was both commercially successful and critically acclaimed.
