Contributor Guidelines

These guidelines apply if you pitch or write an article for The Vanilla Issue. By sending a pitch, you confirm you have read them.

1. Pitches

Our editorial team reviews every pitch. Sending one does not guarantee publication. We will email you if we want to take it forward. We may decline a pitch without giving a reason.

2. Original work

Your article must be your own original writing. Do not copy from another source, and do not submit work that has already been published elsewhere unless we have agreed to that in writing.

3. Accuracy and honesty

Check your facts and quote sources fairly. Do not make claims about real people or brands that you cannot support. Tell us if you have a personal or financial connection to anyone or anything you write about, including gifted products or paid collaborations.

4. Images

Only upload images you took yourself or have permission to use, and tell us who to credit. Do not upload images you do not have the rights to. Please avoid RAW files; JPG/JPEG or PNG around 2000 × 2000 px or below work well (about 2000px on the long edge is fine).

5. Content standards

We do not publish content that is hateful, discriminatory, defamatory or misleading, or that promotes a product or brand without being clearly marked as such.

6. Editing and publishing

You can write and submit drafts, but only The Vanilla Issue can publish. We may edit for clarity, length, style and headlines, and we may ask you to make changes before publishing. We may decide not to publish a finished article.

7. Credit and rights

You keep the copyright in your work and will be credited by name. By submitting an article, you give The Vanilla Issue permission to publish it on our website and share it on our social channels. It may stay on our site after publication. Email us any time if you want it removed.

8. Payment

Contributions are unpaid unless we agree otherwise with you in writing before publication.
