It was founded in 1929 as the Academy of Advertising Art by Richard S. Stephens. The main campus is on New Montgomery Street in the South of Market district.
Fashion
The School of Fashion offers BFA programmes across areas including fashion design, knitwear, textile design, costume design, footwear and accessory design, fashion styling, product development and visual merchandising, as well as graduate degrees. The university has taken part in New York Fashion Week twice a year since 2005.
