Editor’s pick
Beckmans College of Design is a small design college in central Stockholm, founded in 1939 for advertising and fashion. It teaches a three-year BA in Fashion alongside programmes in design and visual communication.
About the school
Beckmans was founded in 1939 by the advertising designer Anders Beckman and the fashion illustrator and pattern designer Göta Trägårdh as a small independent art school for advertising and fashion. A design programme was added in 1992, and in 2003 the school gained degree-awarding rights and full state funding as Beckmans Designhögskola. It has around 120 students.
Fashion
Beckmans offers three art bachelor’s programmes of 180 credits: Design, Fashion and Visual Communication. The BA Fashion culminates in a graduation project in which students develop their own identity as designers. Since 2016 its graduates have shown their collections in a showroom in Paris during Paris Fashion Week.
