Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design
Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design is a public college of art and design in Jerusalem and Israel’s oldest institution of higher education. Fashion is taught in its Department of Jewelry and Fashion Design.
About the school
Bezalel was established in 1906 by the painter and sculptor Boris Schatz. It enrolls about 2,500 students across ten bachelor’s departments and five master’s programmes, and it is a full member of the Cumulus association of art and design schools.
Fashion
The Department of Jewelry and Fashion Design offers a four-year Bachelor of Design. It describes its focus as everything that addresses the immediate vicinity of the body, and it pairs technical expertise with research in what it calls a material laboratory. The department holds an annual graduate fashion show.
In 2022 several graduates and lecturers from the department were nominated for the Edmond de Rothschild Award for Textile, Fashion and Jewelry Design.
