About the school
Alejandro García Villarreal founded CEDIM in 1978 as the Center for Design Studies in Monterrey, starting with Interior Design, Graphic Design and Visual Marketing. It began as a technical school and grew into a university, and its current director is his daughter Leslie García Novak. It celebrated its 45th anniversary in 2023.
Fashion
The nine-semester bachelor’s in Fashion Design and Fashion Business focuses on advanced, transdisciplinary design in areas such as biodesign, sustainability and experimental fashion. CEDIM says it was the first university in Mexico to offer a fashion degree. Students and alumni have shown at fashion weeks in New York, Milan and Tokyo; in August 2023 seven of them presented at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo.
