Srinakharinwirot University
Srinakharinwirot University is a public autonomous university in Bangkok. It began as a teacher-training institution and today teaches across many fields, including fashion in its College of Creative Industry.
About the university
The university developed from two institutions: the Advanced Teacher Training School, founded in 1949, and the College of Education, founded in 1953. It was named Srinakharinwirot University in 1974. Its motto is “Education is Growth”.
Campuses
Srinakharinwirot has two campuses: Prasarnmit, in Bangkok’s Watthana district, and Ongkharak, in Nakhon Nayok province.
Fashion
Fashion at Srinakharinwirot is taught at the College of Creative Industry (FASH SWU CCI), which offers a BA in Fashion, Textiles and Accessories and an MFA in Fashion Design Innovation. The programme says the BA moved there from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 2018, and that it has around 100 fashion students in each year.
The BA is built around the needs of the Thai fashion industry. It aims to train new entrepreneurs who combine design, science, technology and innovation with Thai folk wisdom, so that students can compete in international markets. The programme runs its own website at fashswu.com.
