The West University of Timișoara (UVT) is a public university in western Romania. Fashion design is taught in its Faculty of Arts and Design.

About the school

UVT was founded by Decree-Law no. 660 of 30 December 1944, which called for a university in western Romania, and became an independent university in 1968. It belongs to the Universitaria Consortium of Romanian universities and has faculties from arts and design to chemistry, law, music and theatre.

Fashion

The Faculty of Arts and Design, based on Oituz Street, teaches painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, art history, conservation and restoration, decorative arts and design. Its Fashion – Fashion Design (Modă – design vestimentar) bachelor’s programme is evaluated by Romania’s quality agency ARACIS at first-cycle (level 6) standard. The faculty also stages the Interdesign Beyond Boundaries Biennial, an exhibition of its design and applied arts specialisations.
