SIMON CRACKER – Via Francia
Simon Cracker presented his SS/27 collection called Via Francia at his favorite Milanese venue: the Piazza Tomasi di Lampedusa. This showcase introduced us to another iteration of Simon’s iconic creative universe where upcycling has a crucial role, executed this time in a grungey-yet-dreamy way. Striped shirts alongside silver sequin wedges, florals matched with tartan in opposite hues, skirts in a myriad of different fabrics sewn together and the fun detail of having models holding dolls dressed just like them completed a vision where uncompromising, rebellious attitudes mixed with a touch of 90s nostalgia coexisted to hit the perfect balance.

AMATO DANIELE
The most intimate place a brand can host an event at is their headquarters, and in this place that felt like a creative home is where leather shoes and accessories brand Amato Daniele held their latest presentation. Along with a selection of their finest creations, which stand out due to their exquisite, intricate details, guests were able to see the process behind said pieces as the atelier was open and Amato Daniele’s artisans worked while explaining their craft. At the entrance, we received a passport card that was stamped on each section of the exhibition, and by the end you could really feel you toured the universe of one of the longest-standing legacy brands of Milano.
MARQUES ALMEIDA
The 2015 LVMH Young Designer Award winning duo from Portugal presented a beautiful, slightly eerie womenswear collection that included obscure Cabaret references. The pieces ranged from pants, shirts and skirts for daily wear to more elevated party dresses styled with coiffes de cancan that added drama and flair to an otherwise utilitarian collection. The selection of black and white tartan prints created an interesting contrast to solid olive greens and periwinkle blues, and the final outfits, filled to the brim with silver sequins, gave the diva touch that we were starving for after years of beige “old money” and “clean girl aesthetic” shoved down our throats and feeds. As always, Marques Almeida paid the best possible tribute to the female forms by creating clothing that is comfortable, versatile, wearable, sexy, beautiful and fun, all at once.

CASA PRETI – Palermo
In contrast to the heaviness felt around current global topics, Casa Preti offered a light-hearted, playful vision of the future through their pieces. At Palermo, there was an abundance of tulles, layering in light-weight fabrics, and a selection of summer-friendly hues like butter yellow, very light green and denim blue in the form of sheer tops, fringe denim skirts and quite fresh (in the most literal meaning of the word) shirts. A showcase that inspired guests to imagine a future of positivity and opportunity, as an act of rebellion and opposition to the all-too-common pessimism of today.

TELL THE TRUTH – Delilah
Tell The Truth has consistently paid homage to underground youth subcultures with shows in the coolest venues in their native LA, London, Berlin and Milano, where this time the Virtual Tunnel just right under Piazza de Angelis was the chosen stage. With clear influences from punk rockers and biker gangs, through red leather jackets next to geometric sweaters and satin tracksuits, the brand managed to offer a vision where a rebellious rock and roll attitude was polished and elevated to high fashion levels without losing its original spirit.
